The CEO and founder of SBL, John Oakes built his business on the foundation of many successful corporate years as a leader, team builder and business developer. He is a native Californian and has an extensive background in financial services and successful corporate consulting.
A significant portion of John’s corporate career was spent in financial services where he worked for both independent and large regional organizations. During his corporate tenure, he held a senior executive position, a corporate pilot license and had responsibilities for developing functional teams to manage large business transactions. His career also encompassed work within several independent banks where he served as a President and CEO. John has also contributed significantly to a number of non-profit organizations including Rotary International and The United Way.
John has earned certification designations in Behavior, Attitudes & Values, Competencies and Benchmarking by the international leader of corporate assessment tools, TTI Ltd. John is additionally certified as an official Behavioral Analyst by Odyssey Consulting Institute, one of the most prestigious international consulting groups in the industry.
Tonya is a builder by nature with the mind of an architect who is trained to think through the design and underlying structure of something that has yet to exist. Her capacities are a powerful asset to the world of business consulting.
Raised in Texas, Tonya graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from Texas A&M University in 2001. She worked in various architecture firms for seven years, one of which was a firm that ranked among the top 10 largest in the nation at the time. In 2008, she was invited to become a strategic consultant to a non-profit missions organization after the success of her performance on the leadership team of one of their international philanthropic trips. In addition to designing a disaster response department within that non-profit organization, she helped design a long-term missions department and conducted the research necessary to get their overall infrastructure up to task.

She has additionally completed three years of ministry school and will complete her Master’s Degree in Entrepreneurship from Oklahoma State University in 2014.
